No way, Jose!
As reported by the National Institute of Building Sciences Whole Building Design Guide, installation of reflective metal roofing can reduce summer cooling energy substantially.
Using a highly reflective and highly emissive painted or granular-coated metal roof can re-emit up to 90% of absorbed solar radiation. Described as “Cool Metal Roofing,” these roofs provide substantial benefits to the consumer as the use of energy resources is considerably reduced.
For structures in warm and sunny climates, metal roofs will cool your structure by re-emitting most of the solar radiation absorbed by the roof. Homes in warmer climates, using either pre-painted or granular coated metal roofing systems will not only reflect solar energy but also cool your home by re-emitting most of what solar radiation is absorbed.
